AI² Robotics just raised CN¥1.2 billion ($144.7 million) to turn AlphaBot into a universal robot. The company disclosed a Series B round aimed at accelerating its embodied AI platform and moving AlphaBot toward broader, general-purpose use.
Based in Shenzhen and founded in 2023 by Dr. Yangdong Eric Guo, AI² Robotics has positioned AlphaBot as more than a toy—it’s billed as a hardware-and-AI stack designed for real-time interaction and task reasoning. The company’s distinctive angle centers on what it calls GOVLA: Global and Omni-body Vision-Language-Action. In short, a single model and software layer that tries to coordinate perception, language understanding, and action across the robot’s entire body. The project rests on a “data closed-loop + scenario compounding” approach, which the startup argues yields faster generalization across tasks and environments than traditional, piecemeal learning pipelines.
The funding coincides with claims that AlphaBot is already deployed in real-world settings, including retail and public-service applications. That would place the project above pure lab demos, though specifics about scale, task complexity, and reliability remain sparse in public disclosures.
