On the regulatory front, the Federal Register AI feed shows active notice-and-comment activity and new rulemaking chatter around how AI should be used in government and in federally regulated contexts. While a single rule text may not be obvious yet, the cadence itself matters: more frequent formal proposals, more explicit questions about data provenance, risk scoring, and disclosure practices signal that a more prescriptive regime is taking shape. For compliance teams, that means prepare for a future where AI risk assessments, documentation, and audit trails become less optional and more auditable, even for commercial suppliers.

Civil-liberties groups keep a sharp focus on the tradeoffs between innovation and individual rights.
