The EFF’s updates remind policymakers and industry alike that rights and freedoms remain a central constraint in any compliance map.

The Federal Register’s AI-related notices underscore a shift from discussion to enforceable expectations. Agencies appear to be mapping how AI systems—especially those with high-risk profiles—will need to operate within federal programs and procurement. The move signals that regulatory attention is no longer purely aspirational; it is moving toward defined requirements, disclosures, and accountability mechanisms.
