AutomationDirect now offers Murrplastik’s MP35 and MP45 series, with snap-open access for installation and maintenance.
A drag chain guides cables and hoses as machinery moves, keeping them from bending, rubbing, or tangling. Design World reports that AutomationDirect is offering Murrplastik’s MP35 and MP45 chains for robotic, packaging, and other dynamic industrial equipment.
The main sizing difference is capacity. The MP35 handles cables and hoses up to 30 millimeters (1.18 inches) in diameter, while the MP45 supports bundles up to 40 millimeters (1.57 inches).
Both models use Murrplastik’s EVOSILENCE technology, which AutomationDirect says can reduce operating noise by up to 10 decibels. They also include a SOFT-STOP system intended to limit stress and wear as the chain moves.
Maintenance is the practical feature to watch. The chains open from either the inside or outside bend radius, so technicians can install or service cables without removing the chain from the machine. Integrated strain-relief brackets help secure cable ends, while modular lengths and optional separators help organize multiple cables and hoses.
The chains are made from polyamide, a strong plastic commonly used for industrial components. Their reported benefits could reduce maintenance effort in equipment that cycles constantly, but the right choice still depends on the cable bundle, bend radius, travel distance, and operating environment.
