Figure's Humanoids Start Biomedical Lab Pilots with Thermo Fisher

The pilots equip Figure 02 units with biosafety cabinets, HEPA filters and force-limited manipulators certified for ISO Class 4 cleanrooms. Thermo Fisher staff can script procedures via a drag-and-drop interface tied to lab information systems.

An initial deployment in Cambridge, Massachusetts automates RNA extraction tasks, freeing technicians to focus on data analysis. Sensors on the humanoids log torque and airflow metrics so compliance teams can audit the entire run.

Figure plans to expand the program to biologics packaging later next year. The company is working with the FDA's emerging technology program to document safety protocols before scaling to regulated production lines.
