Robot Mowers Add Edge-Trimming Arms

New models aim to cut closer to borders, but prices and U.S. timing remain unclear.

What Changed

Robot lawnmowers are adding tools to trim edges near driveways, walls, and flowerbeds.

The Verge reports that Anker’s Eufy Robot Lawn Mower S2 Max has an extendable trimming arm. Anker says it can clean up grass around driveways and flowerbeds.

Mammotion’s newly announced Luba 4 AWD also supports an edge-cutting attachment. The attachment is meant to trim along walls, fences, and garden borders, according to The Verge.

This matters because robot mowers often leave strips of grass at edges. Those strips can still require a string trimmer.

The Catch

The edge feature is not on every Luba 4 model. The 3-acre 12000F does not support the edge-trimming attachment.

Mammotion says its 3000F model can cut up to 0.75 acres. Its 6000F model is rated for up to 1.5 acres. Both support the attachment.

Anker says its S2 Max can map and mow up to 3.7 acres. It uses cameras to build a 3D yard map. Anker says this removes the need for boundary wires or an RTK base station.

Those are company claims. Real edge-cut quality, obstacle handling, and long-term reliability are still unknown.

Price and Verdict

The Eufy S2 Max is set for a May 2027 launch at €3,999. Anker has not shared U.S. pricing or availability.

Mammotion plans Luba 4 AWD preorders later this year. It has not announced prices.

Verdict: Wait. The edge-trimming push deserves attention. Yet buyers still lack U.S. prices, full availability details, and independent results.
