Roomba Duo Adds a Second Cleaning Robot

iRobot’s new Duo concept splits floor cleaning between a large washer and a smaller Roomba.
What changed
iRobot showed the Roomba Duo concept at IFA 2026 in Berlin.
The system pairs a large vacuum and floor washer with a smaller robot. The main unit cleans open rooms and carries the smaller Roomba.
A mechanical arm lowers the compact robot for tight spots. Those include spaces under tables and in corners, according to The Verge.
Vacuum Wars reports both robots share one home map. They are meant to divide cleaning work as one system.
What it could replace
The main unit is designed to vacuum, sweep, mop, and steam-clean. It also carries clean-water and dirty-water tanks, plus a dust bag, The Verge reports.
iRobot says its roller mop uses 46 newtons of downward pressure. Vacuum Wars says the system also uses a heater to send steam onto dried messes.
The smaller Roomba is meant to reach places the larger machine cannot. Its mop pad can extend up to 31 millimeters, according to Vacuum Wars.
The catch and cost
This is not a product you can buy yet.
iRobot has not announced a price, release date, preorder plan, or launch markets. Final specs may change if it reaches stores, Vacuum Wars reports.
The Verge also reports that iRobot would not allow hands-on access or an internal look. The exact operating details are still being developed.
The main machine is large enough that two people carried it during the demo. The Verge also raised long-term durability concerns about its moving arm.
Verdict: Wait
The two-robot design tackles a real problem: big cleaners miss low, tight spaces.
Still, Roomba Duo remains a prototype with no price or retail date. Watch it, but do not plan a purchase until iRobot confirms cost, reliability, and release details.
