Genisom AI Debuts Production Quadroped at ICRA

GENISOM AI, the Beijing based robotics outfit founded in December 2023, is pushing beyond lab demos with mass produced platforms already delivered at scale. Testing shows the company has produced and delivered more than 10,000 units in under three years, positioning it among the few robotics players to reach production scale this quickly. The ICRA 2026 presence in Vienna highlighted a shift from concept to deployment, with GENISOM presenting its M1 industrial grade quadruped alongside the L1 series as mature, mass produced systems. The company says the M1 is designed for real world use, not just demonstrations, and stresses that its go to market is built around deployable hardware and software platforms rather than bespoke one off prototypes.
The M1 is rated for a continuous walking payload of 30 kg and a payload to weight ratio near 1 to 1, a specification that matters in real world tasks where the robot must carry tools, sensors, or payloads without collapsing its mobility. An IP67 protection rating underpins rugged field work, and the platform can run up to five hours, though runtime depends on payload and operating conditions. A key enabler of that capability is GENISOM AI’s in house P85MAX-S joint actuator module, which delivers up to 180 N m of peak torque in a compact 86 mm diameter, weighing about 1 kg. By fabricating actuators in house, the company says it gains direct control over the hardware software interface, a critical point for locomotion reliability and system integration in real deployments.
The M1 Ultra is presented as an enhanced variant, though GENISOM has not disclosed full specifications in the briefing material available at ICRA. Still, the two platforms underscore a deliberate strategy: build a family of mass produced, industrial grade robots that can be deployed directly into customer environments rather than remaining in labs or pilot projects. Like Unitree, GENISOM AI emphasizes manufacturable platforms, but the Beijing company says it differentiates itself with a stronger emphasis on industry deployment and a tighter integration of hardware, software, and real world capability.
For investors and operators, the signal is clear. Genisom AI is not a “build it and show it” startup; it is presenting production scale and a hardware software stack designed for field use. The M1 and L1 series aim to bridge the gap between prototyping and customer-ready robots, a niche that has frustrated many robotics buyers who demand predictable serviceability, component availability, and performance in harsh environments. The in house actuator approach, combined with a 30 kg payload and up to five hours of runtime, directly addresses some of the most vexing tradeoffs in legged robotics: payload capacity versus endurance, and compact actuation versus robust torque.
Industry watchers will want to see how GENISOM scales its service and support network to back thousands of units in diverse deployments. Maintenance cycles for in house actuators, spare parts supply, and field diagnostics will be decisive factors in whether this production claim translates into durable, long term performance across industries such as logistics, inspection, and mobile manipulation.
