ISA Launches SCADA Lifecycle Standard

The International Society of Automation has published ANSI/ISA-112.00.01-2025, SCADA Systems – Part 1: SCADA Lifecycle, Diagrams and Terminology. The guideline package, released March 2026, is designed to bring a repeatable governance model to the design, build, operation, and maintenance of supervisory control and data acquisition systems. In practical terms, this means a shared framework for diagrams, terminology, and lifecycle stages that cut across vendor ecosystems and IT-OT teams.
For plant managers and CFOs, the payoff is not a marketing claim but a risk-reduction play. Production data shows that SCADA projects often stall because teams speak different languages and because maintenance and upgrade workflows are ad hoc rather than planned.
