Single-source brief: Matic says its new Cues feature adds direct voice and pointing controls, but independent confirmation is limited.

What Changed

Matic has introduced Matic Cues for its robot vacuum, according to Vacuum Wars.

The feature lets owners speak directly to the robot. It also adds gesture control for targeted cleaning.

Users start with “Hey Matic.” They can then ask it to vacuum or mop a room.

Other listed commands include “follow me” and “return to the dock.” Matic can use room names saved in its map.

Owners can also point toward a mess and say, “clean this.” Matic says the robot uses its cameras to find the pointed direction.

The robot’s display and movements provide status feedback. It can show when it is listening, following, or returning to its dock.

Who Gets It

Matic says Cues is rolling out to existing owners through a firmware update.

The company says the feature supports more than 70 languages. Owners must opt in before using it.

The supplied information does not state the update’s full rollout timing. It also does not provide a price or any added subscription cost.

The Privacy Catch

Matic says wake-word and gesture detection happen on the robot.

After it hears the wake phrase, Matic says spoken commands go through an encrypted connection to the Gemini API. The company says those requests are anonymous.

Matic also says ambient audio is not recorded, stored, or sent. It says gesture images stay on the robot and are discarded after processing.

Those claims come from Matic. Independent verification was not supplied.

Buy, Wait, or Skip?

Wait if gesture control is your main reason to buy. Early tester Brian Heater said gesture recognition was not active during his initial access.

Existing owners have little downside in trying the opt-in update. New buyers should wait for independent tests of reliability and privacy behavior.
