The forecast puts global robot electricity demand at 363 TWh a year by 2035.

Industrial robots drive most of the estimate. Wood Mackenzie assigns them 357 TWh.

Humanoid robots add an estimated 6 TWh a year.

The Deployment Reality

Industrial robots are already deployed at scale.

Wood Mackenzie says 5 million industrial robots used 78 TWh in 2025.

It expects 16 million industrial robots by 2035. That assumes 12 percent yearly growth continues.

Humanoids remain early in rollout, according to the report.

Wood Mackenzie projects more than 10 million humanoid units by 2035. That forecast depends on very rapid growth.

China holds over 70 percent of annual industrial robot installs. It also accounts for nearly 90 percent of deployed humanoid units, the report says.

What Operators Should Watch

Electricity becomes a site-planning issue as robot fleets grow.

The report says most industrial robots draw power from local grids.

It says robot training power is counted under data center demand. It excludes that load from robotics totals.

The forecast is not a measured deployment result. It is a 2035 projection from Wood Mackenzie.
