Robot Videos Point to Learning and Control Gaps

Google DeepMind showed Gemini Robotics 2. Reimagine Robotics reported factory deployments with worker-led training.

IEEE Spectrum’s Video Friday highlighted Gemini Robotics 2 from Google DeepMind.
Google DeepMind called it an intelligence layer for adaptable robots. The company said it supports whole-body control, dexterity, and multi-robot work.
That is a capabilities claim, not a deployment report. The material does not state where Gemini Robotics 2 operates outside demonstrations.
The video roundup also included robot dogs, a home robot, and research systems. These examples show broad activity across robot forms. They do not prove reliable field use at scale.
Factory Work Is Further Along
Robotics and Automation News reported that Reimagine Robotics emerged from stealth. The company was founded by former Google DeepMind Applied Robotics leaders.
Reimagine says workers can show robots a task, watch attempts, and correct errors. The company calls this “monkey-see, monkey-do” learning.
It reported deployments in advanced manufacturing and electronics disassembly. One customer used robots to tend 3D printers overnight.
Reimagine also described a three-robot hard-drive disassembly cell. It said new robot behaviors moved from about one day to around ten minutes.
Deployment Reality
This is not a broad humanoid rollout. Reimagine’s reported work targets defined factory tasks and controlled sites.
The key system value is faster task setup by process workers. That may reduce the need for specialist programmers when workflows change.
Important unknowns remain. The available evidence does not provide runtime, payload, uptime, safety performance, or deployment scale. It also does not establish costs or long-term reliability.
