LG Targets 2027 Humanoid Unveiling

Single-source brief: LG plans a bipedal humanoid reveal in early 2027, but deployment details remain unclear.

What Changed

LG and Nvidia signed a memorandum of understanding on August 13 in Santa Clara, California. Robotics & Automation News reports the deal expands work across robots, AI factories, and vehicles.

LG is developing a next-generation bipedal humanoid for public unveiling in the first quarter of 2027.

The robot is planned to use Nvidia Jetson Thor for onboard computing, reasoning, and control. LG is also building it with Nvidia Isaac GR00T, Nvidia’s open humanoid foundation model.

LG plans to use Nvidia Halos for Robotics as part of the system’s safety stack.

The Engineering Stack

LG says it will combine parts from across its businesses. Those include actuators, sensors, and batteries from LG Electronics, LG Innotek, and LG Energy Solution.

Nvidia’s role reaches beyond the robot’s onboard computer. The firms also plan a robot data factory using LG CNS PhysicalWorks.

That system is meant to support data collection, synthetic data, training, and verification. LG says the work should also support its in-house Robot Foundation Model.

Deployment Reality

The humanoid remains a development program, not a disclosed field deployment. No work task, runtime, payload, speed, price, or production volume was provided.

LG’s nearer factory test involves CLOiD, a wheel-based robot. LG plans to deploy it at a Tennessee washing machine line this year for validation.

LG says results from that test may guide later expansion. That does not confirm humanoid deployment. Independent confirmation was not supplied.
