RoboBusiness Panel Targets Humanoid Deployment Reality

Experts will discuss what humanoids can do now, and what still blocks wider use.

RoboBusiness will host a “State of Humanoids” panel on Oct. 20 and 21 in Santa Clara, California.

The Robot Report says the panel will focus on real-world deployment. It moves the talk beyond viral videos and broad promises.

Speakers will come from Agility Robotics, Apptronik, Persona AI, and PSYONIC. Mike Oitzman of The Robot Report will moderate.

The group plans to cover current robot skills and early industrial use. It will also address safety, standards, economics, and operating challenges.

Deployment Stage

The event signals that humanoids remain in an early industrial learning phase.

The Robot Report says panelists will discuss lessons from early implementations. It also says key milestones remain before wide adoption.

The listed target sites include manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics. Persona AI’s commercial work also includes shipbuilding, steel plants, and offshore operations.

That is not proof of broad deployment. It shows vendors and operators are still testing where humanoids fit.

The Hardware Constraint

Schaeffler says strain wave gearboxes are key actuator parts. Actuators make up around half of humanoid manufacturing costs, according to Robotics and Automation News.

Schaeffler says its formed gearbox parts take seconds rather than minutes to make. The company claims more than 25% lower key-part costs and over 75% less material use.

Validation testing is complete, Schaeffler says. Mass production is planned for 2027, starting in Germany.

The open question is whether cheaper joint parts will translate into reliable, safe robot fleets.
