Agility says Digit will sort and stack parts and place totes for storage at AGCO’s Kansas factory, with a pilot expected in 2027.

AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement for a planned Digit humanoid pilot at AGCO’s manufacturing facility in Hesston, Kansas, The Robot Report reports. The pilot is expected to begin in 2027 and support AGCO’s effort to build more flexible, intelligent factories.

Agility says Digit will initially support assembly and production operations. The proposed work includes sorting and stacking parts, along with placing totes for storage.

Those tasks are a practical test for a humanoid robot. They require handling objects in factory workflows, rather than simply walking or performing a staged demonstration. But the announcement describes planned work, not measured results from a completed AGCO trial.

Thomas Enghof, AGCO’s director of manufacturing technology, called humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence “essential ‘teammates’” for flexible factories. He said they could absorb repetitive, strenuous, or hazardous tasks while supporting employees.

Agility also says its Arc cloud platform can help companies deploy and manage robot fleets. That is the company’s description of the planned system, not an independent performance result from AGCO’s factory.

The agreement does not specify how many Digit robots will take part, how long the pilot will run, or its commercial terms. The next useful milestone is the expected 2027 pilot, when AGCO can assess practical measures such as safe handling, reliable tote placement, production pace, and worker ergonomics.
