The iPad Air M4 slashes its price, and it’s a steal.
Apple’s midrange tablet just stepped into a stronger value tier as Amazon hosts notable discounts on the M4-powered iPad Air across both screen sizes. The 11-inch Air with 128GB of Wi-Fi is now $519.99, down from $599, while the 13-inch base model with 128GB is down to $699.99 from $799. Higher storage options follow suit: the 11-inch 256GB drops to $609.99 (from $699) and the 512GB hits $839 (from $899). On the 13-inch side, 256GB is $789.99 (from $899) and the 512GB variant is $1,019 (from $1,099).
The discounts arrive alongside a broader case for the Air as a value proposition in Apple’s tablet lineup. The M4 chip, paired with 12GB of RAM, delivers noticeably faster performance than the entry iPad, making this Air a valid option for lighter creative work and some gaming. It’s not the iPad Pro, however. Apple’s own line-up positions the Pro as the power ceiling, and reviewers note the Air does not reach the raw performance of the M5-powered Pro models or the ultra-thin, premium-build perception those devices carry.
Beyond raw power, Apple nudges the Air toward stronger connectivity and smart-home integration. The iPad AirM4 includes an N1 wireless networking chip that supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, which helps with faster network handoffs and peripheral compatibility. It’s also compatible with Thread, which means it can act more reliably as a control hub for compatible smart home devices such as lights and locks. Those connectivity upgrades matter for households juggling multiple devices and dead zones, and they tilt the Air toward practical day-to-day use in a connected home.
From a price-to-feature perspective, the Air M4 lands as a compelling middle ground. The 11-inch and 13-inch configurations widen the gap versus the base iPad, offering more memory and faster internals at a price that remains far below the Pro line. For shoppers who want a capable tablet for writing, drawing, light photo editing, and casual gaming, the Air M4 is hard to ignore when the discounts are this deep. The key tradeoff remains display and raw power; if you insist on peak performance for demanding apps or future-proof longevity with the heaviest workloads, the Pro remains the better bet.
Two practical nuggets for buyers watching the market: first, storage matters at these price points. The jump from 128GB to 512GB on either size can cost several hundred dollars, so buyers minded by budget should assess whether the extra space will be used. Second, given the Air’s broader connectivity upgrades, pairing this device with other smart-home gear could offer smoother, more integrated control than older iPads, especially in homes with multiple Thread-enabled devices.
Bottom line: if you’re shopping for a more powerful tablet than the entry-level iPad but can’t stomach the Pro price, the iPad Air M4 is an attractive buy at current discounts. The 11-inch model shines as a value option, but even the 13-inch variant represents a strong all-around package for productivity, light creative tasks, and smarter home control at a price that won’t break the bank.
Verdict: Buy now if you want strong midrange performance with next-gen connectivity at a steep discount. Wait if you need Pro-tier power or plan to load up heavy professional apps. Skip if you want the biggest screen and the top-tier chassis and performance Apple offers.
