Coze 2.5 gives AI agents long memory and real-world reach.

Coze’s latest release repositions the enterprise AI agent as a more persistent, platform-wide operator: a unified conversational interface now handles schedules, files, emails, and devices, with long-context memory to recall past interactions. The upgrade adds cloud-based devices—virtual computers and smartphones—that let agents perform tasks against real websites and mobile apps, expanding what an AI assistant can do beyond a chat window. At the same time, the revamped Skill ecosystem, dubbed “Agent World,” invites users to install and share modular capabilities, standardizing recurring workflows and accelerating adoption across teams. The update explicitly emphasizes continuous learning, letting agents tune themselves to user preferences and improve task execution over time. In short, Coze 2.5 is a bet on AI as a persistent work companion rather than a point-in-time automation tool.

For China’s sprawling manufacturing and services landscape, the shift matters in practical terms. Chinese factories and office operations have long dealt with a maze of enterprise software, MES, and procurement workflows that often resist smooth digitization. A platform that can securely weave scheduling, file management, and supplier communications into a single conversational brain could shave minutes from repetitive cycles and reduce handoffs between disparate systems. The cloud-device layer—virtual desktops and virtual phones—also promises to bridge the shop floor and the back office, letting a single AI agent execute cross-domain tasks like checking supplier capacity, triaging production orders, and updating ERP records in near real time. It’s a manifestation of the trend toward automation that is not just automated but personalized and decision-context aware.

From a policy lens, this kind of capability intersects with core Chinese concerns about data security, localization, and controllability. If Chinese enterprises run such agents on cloud services, they will weigh data-handling practices against the Personal Information Protection Law and related security norms that emphasize local storage for sensitive information and strict governance over cross-border transfers. In practice, expect enterprises to favor solutions that can operate with Chinese data centers and local cloud partners, or to deploy hybrid models that keep sensitive data within domestic boundaries while leveraging the platform’s enterprise features for non-sensitive workflows. The market reward for “self-contained, controllable AI” is growing in a policy environment that prizes reliability alongside speed.

The market dynamics around Coze 2.5 also reveal a broader domestic playbook. The “Agent World” concept—an ecosystem for building and sharing Skills—reflects how Chinese AI firms are stitching vertical expertise into open platforms rather than shipping isolated products. For global manufacturers with China exposure, that could shorten time to pilot and scale: vertical modules for logistics coordination, quality control, and supplier risk assessment may appear faster and more customizable than from Western incumbents. Yet the same openness raises questions about interoperability with non-Chinese IT stacks and the scope of data governance across borders. Buyers should probe APIs, governance controls, and the availability of local support when evaluating such platforms.

Two practical takeaways for supply chain executives:

  • Start with integration tests: assess how well Coze 2.5 can talk to your ERP/MMS stack and whether critical data stays within approved data centers, with a plan for cross-system workflows and fallback procedures.
  • Prioritize data governance: demand clear controls on memory retention, data access, and the lifecycle of shared Skills to prevent leakage or misconfiguration as the Agent World ecosystem grows.
  • In Beijing’s climate of AI investment and enterprise acceleration, Coze 2.5 illustrates a key trajectory: AI agents that remember, adapt, and act through cloud-enabled devices, anchored by a thriving Skills marketplace. The next test will be real deployments at scale—alongside clear data governance, integration discipline, and proof that this time-saver also stays compliant.
