Humanoid Collaboration Tests Start in Austria

A Hexagon humanoid is about to join a live factory line in Austria.

Hexagon Robotics and Fill Maschinenbau have announced a collaboration to define how humanoids can work alongside Fill’s manufacturing solutions to increase autonomy in advanced manufacturing.

AEON, Hexagon Robotics’ multi-purpose humanoid, will be piloted on one of Fill’s client use cases in Gurten, Austria, to demonstrate how it can be integrated within real manufacturing workflows.

The project is framed as more than a demo; it aims to prove how a humanoid can function within an active production line and interact with Fill’s existing solutions.

Industry observers say the test will reveal how humanoids can complement skilled trades and handle repetitive tasks while maintaining human oversight on complex operations.

The collaboration signals a broader push toward autonomy in manufacturing, with a concrete live-payoff objective tied to real client workflows rather than a purely speculative showcase.

If the Gurten pilot proves successful, the companies could use the learnings to scale similar humanoid deployments across other client sites in Europe.
